A great blue heron standing at the line of rocks (can you spot it?).
A fuzzy close-up.
It was just standing there like that the whole time, its body tilted at an odd angle.

Docked Glory
Today I went to the private DISL dock on the other side of the Coast Guard station. Here's the Gulf Glory as it backs into its dock space. Behind it, you can sort of see the top of the ferry (also docked). To the right are two of DISL's small ships - the Nancy (out of the water) and the Wilson.

Shallow waters and a new board
First day back on the boardwalk after the holiday break was Tuesday, actually (6 Jan). The water level was so low that you could see all the bottom ripple marks in the space between shore and the line of rocks.
In other news, a new board. The previous one had indeed been crumbling, and was the one that the nutria had been hiding under when I nearly stepped on it.
As for today, it was cold and gray. I haven't been out again, since the main reason I do these walks is to get some sun and light exercise in the middle of a long workday, and today there is no sun and I started the workday at noon. Also, in the middle of winter, the boardwalk seems to be a lot more boring. Posts might be more sporadic until spring. :)
