The Sophie M

It's been a while since I posted a picture of a boat, so here's the Sophie M. as it heads out into the bay. It's carrying a bunch of what looks like scuba tanks in the back, so I guess they're off to do some diving.

Getting ready for Spring

It's been a boring winter of everything being dead and brown, but some of the Spartina are showing signs of life, with new green bits poking out from last year's dead leaves. The greenery behind the Spartina is new too - those plants were also still mostly brown last week.

More Purple Flowers

Today there were several patches of purple flowers, near the big patch of yellow flowers from a few posts ago. The yellow ones are still there too.

This particular plant had a few flowers open, and a whole lot of buds.

I'll try to get better pictures (if they're still there) when the sun's out. Today was cloudy.

More of the other side

A closer look at the fishing pier. This is taken from a small gazebo off of the gravel parking lot across from Fort Gaines.

And here's a view from the bench at the end of the pier, looking back at the gazebo.

This area isn't really part of the Estuarium (as far as I know), but it does have boardwalky bits and educational signs.

The line of rocks on the way out of the boat launch area. All the birds were there instead of in front of the pier where I usually take pics, because there were a bunch of kids loudly loitering on the usual pier.

No more blue cooler

That blue cooler is gone! So is the tire that was next to it. Today was the first I'd gone out since my last post, so it must've been claimed between then and today.

There's a black plastic crate back at the other end of the little sandy area though. Same one as last time? Who knows.

The Gazebo in Winter

It's been mostly cold and windy out, even when the sun is shining. Nearly everything is dead and brown, and even the birds aren't really hanging out much.

The one patch of yellow flowers amidst all the dead and brown. These are the only flowers anywhere in the boardwalk area.
